How to store the sharepoint List or List Item within the recycle bin of the site while deleting it programmatically ?

Whenever we delete a sharepoint list or list item from the User Interface it get stored within the recycle bin of the site. But when we delete it programmatically it get's deleted permanently.

So what we can do to store the List or List Item within the recycle bin while deleting it programmatically ?

Generally we use the list.Delete() or item.Delete() method to delete the list or item.
Instead of using the Delete() method we can use the Recycle() method i.e list.Recycle() or item.Recycle(). This will store the item within the recycle bin.

The site collection contains a group named “All Members” with “Contributor” privilege.

I want to add this group programmatically to a sub site and modify its roles from “Contributor” to “Read” without modifying the original group.

The following are the variables used in the code:

What are :

SSP : A Web application that contain all the services proived by sharepoint, and can be shared by various web applications. Some of the services are Search, Infopath,User Profiles etc.

Service Application : The Services that use to be together in SSP, now run independently as a Service Application.

Build -In :

SSP : Shared Services Provider (SSP) was only a part of Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Service Applications : The service application architecture is however, built into Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 itself.

SSP Administration Site :

Login with different user – SharePoint designer

Have you ever been in to a situation where you want to test something with the help of login with different user’s credentials? Well, we are talking about login in the SharePoint Designer.

If you have used designer then you must know that there is no way to log in with the different user straight. You need to close designer and re open if you wish to test something with different user’s credentials.

In SharePoint Designer 2010, we have an option to do that. However not many people know this. This is because the icon which allows us to do this almost goes unnoticed.

When you click on that small user icon on down left side, it allows you to login with different user without closing SharePoint Designer.

This feature is not available in SharePoint Designer 2007.

How to Implement Live Chat in Sharepoint

This feature of the Windows Live Messenger application enables you to actually add a web-based messenger to your site or blog.

Check out http://settings.messenger.live.com/applications/websettings.aspx to create one for yourself.

I will explain in brief.

you will see a setting for "Show your Messenger Status on the Web"

The checkbox "Allow websites to see your Messenger status and send you messages"
will allow any one to message you from the gadget.

You can place the gadget on any web page by copying the html code.

At the bottom you will find these instructions.

Please delete the search service application proxy first, then delete search service application. The search service application proxy is under the search service application.

at this point, I would probably just go and delete the existing Search Service Application and create a new one.
